Indiana University, Bloomington, IN

(Master of Music in Clarinet)
Alyssa was granted a scholarship and graduated with honors from the prestigious number one music school in the country, Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music under the tutelage of Professor James Campbell (internationally renowned professor and clarinetist). She promoted cultural diversity by demonstrating and providing the history of the duduk (Armenian clarinet). Alyssa remained assistant concertmaster of the Jacobs School of Music’s Wind Ensemble from 2013 to 2014, participated in a woodwind quintet (2013), a trio with two clarinets and piano (2013), and a clarinet, violin, and piano trio (2014). She taught private clarinet lessons to students at Kenyatta University in Kenya, Africa via Skype in the spring of 2013 as a part of a Clarinet Pedagogy course taught by Professor Howard Klug. Alyssa participated in an Orchestral Repertoire class conducted by Professor Eli Eban in the fall of 2013. She has extensive knowledge and proficiency in the clarinet, classical music, and music theory. She also graduated with a Music Theory minor degree.

 

Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI

(Bachelor of Music in Clarinet Performance)
Alyssa graduated with honors from Michigan State University's College of Music in 2012 and studied under the tutelage of Dr. Caroline Hartig (internationally renowned professor and clarinetist). Alyssa was awarded a scholarship to attend the Vianden Music Festival in 2011 and participated in a study abroad program in Todi, Italy in 2009. She performed in several cities in Italy, Luxembourg, and Germany and is recognized as an accomplished clarinetist. She was the principal clarinetist of the Michigan State University Symphony Band from 2011-2012 and principal clarinetist of the Chamber Orchestra at Michigan State University from 2009-2010. Alyssa was a clarinetist in the Michigan State University Wind Ensemble. She is affiliated with Buffet Crampon and worked at the Buffet Crampon booth as an exhibitioner with Al Maniscalco at the Michigan Music Conference for several years.

 

Novi High School, Novi, MI
Alyssa graduated from Novi High School in 2008 and was the Section Leader for the Clarinet Section, Principal Clarinetist in the Wind Ensemble and consistently first clarinetist all throughout High School. She was awarded the John Phillip Sousa Band Award 2008, Novi High School Band Department Award, and was a scholarship recipient from Novi High School. She was also awarded consistent number one ratings in solo and ensemble competitions at district and state levels all four years. She was an All State Participant as Principal clarinetist in the All-State Band, and received an audition waiver to attend the All-State division of Interlochen Fine Arts Camp. Alyssa was invited to participate within the Interlochen program several times, as well as numerous invitations to Sound of America and Blue Lake International.  Alyssa volunteered to participate in the Educational Outreach program to demonstrate the clarinet to elementary school students. She taught private clarinet lessons to several students throughout her junior and senior years in High School, providing direction to clarinetists of all ages. Alyssa auditioned to study under the tutelage of Mr. Theodore Oien (former principal clarinetist of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra) and remained his student for two years (from 2006-2008).
